Policies and Fees
An individual counseling session is $130 for a 55 minute session. Payment is due at time of service. I accept cash, all major credit cards, and HSAs.
why don’t I take insurance?
While I understand the want or need for free of low cost health care services, paying out of pocket for services has several benefits that involving insurance companies complicates.
1) Full Privacy: Insurance companies collect data on your treatment including diagnosis (which is medically necessary to justify insurance coverage), number of visits, treatment plans etc. For those who want to keep their information entirely confidential, self-pay ensures that.
2) More individualized care: Some insurance companies dictate the number of visits, and the type of care to be offered. Many insurance companies reimburse therapists at low rates which necessitates they take on a larger client load. I focus on taking less clients which allows me to dedicate more time outside of our sessions towards optimizing your care.
I am an out-of-network provider. What this means for you is that it is your responsibility to pay in full at the time of your service. With that being said, many insurance companies will reimburse you for counseling services if proper documentation is submitted. I can provide you with a superbill for our sessions to submit for possible reimbursement. I would check with your provider ahead of time to get a better understanding of their policies.
www.better.co is a service designed to help individuals who use out-of-network provides secure a reimbursement for healthcare bills. If they are successful in securing you a reimbursement, they take 10% of what was returned. If reimbursement is not possible, it costs nothing to you.
Do I provide a sliding scale?
I accept a limited number of clients on a sliding scale fee. I currently do not have any sliding scale spots available. Contact me if you would like to be put on a waiting list.
To avoid cancellation fees, a 24 hour notice must be given in the event you decide to cancel an appointment. If your appointment is cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled time or you miss your appointment, you will be charged for full appointment fee unless the reason for cancelling was deemed a true emergency.
